According to estimates, a conventional 2-stroke outboard motor will emit the same hydrocarbon pollution in one hour a new car does driving from Vancouver Island to Saint John’s, Newfoundland.
Contamination from conventional outboard marine motors poses threats to the water quality, ecosystem health and visitors’ experience. Parks Canada, on the recommendation of stakeholders, has restricted the use of outboard marine motors on Park lakes to either 4-stroke or direct injected 2-stroke. By limiting emissions we are working towards keeping our lakes clean for future generations to enjoy.
